Flat Stanley Returns.......

A number of students are getting pictures, letters, emails, etc. back from Flat Stanley.  I am happy to hear that Stanley is having fun in his travels!  Collect as much information, pictures, etc. as you can!  Everyone will present to the class the results of their Stanley’s visit.  When you get Stanley home, think of a creative way to display his adventures. You may do a poster, a scrapbook, a booklet, etc. Be sure to include the emails or letters documenting his vacation. Then, your child can bring it to school to share with the class.  Parents may help with ideas for this project, but I want this to be your child's work.   Any time your project is ready, bring it on in to share! When you share about your Stanley's adventures, be sure you can read your emails, letter, etc. well and be sure you know important information about the places Stanley visited. We want to learn more about other communities from this project. This will be a graded project.  If you are having trouble getting Stanley back, just let me know!  I understand that this is out of your hands.  I hope you had fun with Flat Stanley and his adventures!   We will also display your projects in the hallway.  Enjoy working on this together!  Thanks for your involvement in this activity.  It is always one that former students remember with fondness.

Please click here to see a rubric for this project.

Macon Photo Project......

I hope you found and took the time to read the letter sent home yesterday about the Macon Photo Project.  Many returned the bottom portion of the letter, but a few did not.  Details about the project are given in the letter. KEEP it handy for further reference. Attached to the letter is the rubric that will be used to grade the project and a list of suggested places to photograph. Certainly other places can be added. This gives you and your third grader a month to work on the project. I hope you will enjoy working on this together. I have several fond memories with my oldest child when she did this very same project.  I'm not sure who enjoyed it more....her or me!!!  It is fine to plan a time when another classmate and his/her parent can go with you around town to photograph historical sites.Make it a fun outing and learn some cool things about our hometown!

I saw some of you at the  informative meeting on Internet safety and bullying last night.  Thank you so much for coming and supporting this!  This was a very informative meeting about cyberbullying and some other info that our children may face. I found it to be very interesting and scary!!!!!  You can never be too informed! Thanks to our school for sponsoring parent forums like this!  I hope we have more!!!!!!
