Flat Stanley is BACK!!!!

Woo Hoo!!!  Way to go, boys!  Jacob and Matthew have presented and shared about their Flat Stanley's adventures.  Two very unique and interesting presentations!!  I'm very proud of you, boys!!!  Everybody should be getting him back and working on this.
Here are the directions again for Flat Stanley.
A number of students are getting pictures, letters, emails, etc. back from Flat Stanley. I am happy to hear that Stanley is having fun in his travels. Collect as much information, pictures, etc. as you can! Everyone will present to the class the results of their Stanley’s visit. When you get Stanley home, think of a creative way to display his adventures. You may do a poster, a scrapbook, a booklet, a PowerPoint, etc. Be sure to include the emails or letters documenting his vacation. Then, your child can bring it to school to share with the class. Parents may help with ideas for this project, but I want this to be your child's work. All projects should be turned in and presented by April 2oth. Any time your project is ready, bring it on in to share! If you are having trouble getting Stanley back, just let me know! I understand that this is out of your hands. I hope you had fun with Flat Stanley and his adventures! We will also display your projects in the hallway. Enjoy working on this together! Thanks for your involvement in this activity. It is always one that former students remember with fondness.

Below is a rubric (grade sheet) for this project.
20 points each for the following:
____ letter
____ pictures
____ presentation (speaks clearly, knowledge of poster and  location of Stanley’s adventure)

10 points each for the following:
_____ organization
_____ creativity
_____ neatness
_____ followed directions and completed project on time

Jump Rope for Heart

Jump Rope for Heart is Friday, March 30, at 1:00 on the track. Please collect your donations and be ready to turn those in on that Friday. If you have not returned the permission portion of the JRFH information/envelope, please do so ASAP. You can go online and register your child and ask for donations that way. Mrs. Allen did so with Wes and said it is easy. Statistics show that online donations yield more money than door to door. This is for a great cause! We all know someone with heart disease. Every little bit helps! Thank you.

STICK TO A CAUSE!

Mrs. Mallett has agreed to be duct taped to the wall in the lunchroom as an incentive for
Jump Rope for Heart!
Any student who raises at least $25 dollars in donations will get to STICK IT TO MRS. MALLETT! When we return from Spring Break, Mrs. Mallett will stand on a stool as the qualifying students "stick" her to the wall. We will then pull the stool away and watch as she hangs from the wall....All for a great cause!

Flat Maddie Writes Home!!!!!!!

Aloha, Maddie and friends!

I am having a wonderful time here in Hawai'i. It really is the land of Aloha! Hawai'i is made up of 8 islands. I am traveling on the island of O'ahu, which means the Gathering Place! I'm visiting Jamisen (age 7) and Erik (age 5) and staying at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. It smells amazing here, as there are so many plumeria trees everywhere we go. I got to learn how to hula on Monday! It was so much fun learning how to use my arms, hands, hips, facial expression, and body to tell a story. Auntie Kealohalani (Kay-aloha-lah-ni) was our "kumu" (teacher), and Jamisen showed me how she does each dance.

I'm looking forward to visiting Pearl Harbor, the famous beaches of Waikiki, the giant waves of the North Shore, and maybe some whale-watching while I'm here. I learned this week that President Barack Obama was born in Hawai'i, and that President William Howard Taft had surfed in Waikiki! I can't wait to show you some more pictures of my travels.

Aloha, Flat Maddie

P.S. There are many meanings for the word "Aloha." It means 'Hello,' 'Good-bye,' and it is how you show love in the things that you think, say, and do!

How cool is this!!!! :)

Board Games!

We had a blast playing games this afternoon!  It was a real treat!

Come See Our Hall Displays!

The Third Graders are continuing to learn about our great state, Georgia!  Today we made the Great Seal!  Do you know who the custodian of the Great Seal is?  We do!  Ask us about it!

Presidential Summaries

Did you know that President Taft got stuck in the White House bathtub?
Did you know that President Jimmy Carter was the 1st President to be born in a hospital?
Last week we researched some of our U.S. Presidents. We wrote  paragraphs using some of the interesting facts we found.  We have enjoyed learning some FUN and CRAZY FACTS and writing about them!
