Biography Report Schedule

ALL written reports are due on or before May 5.
The following dates are for oral reports with your visual aid:

Wednesday:  May 5
Beijun Desai, Colton Dingmore, Chandler Gay, Zannah Herndon, Paul Kelley, Toni Powell, Krosby Newsome, William Stubbs
Friday:  May  7
Blake Brennan, Garrett Earls, Jake Henry, Evan Kelley, Chase McClure, Adam Musolf, Anna Russ, Maggie Watson

For the oral report, students may use small note cards to aide them in giving their report. The student should be very familiar with the subject so as to be able to tell the class interesting facts about that person. Practice at home in front of a mirror. Then practice in front of your family. Remember, practice makes perfect! Your visual aid should go along with your oral report.
Make sure someone proofreads your written report.

Earth Day is Thursday, April 22! DO YOUR PART!

Earth Day is Thursday, April 22. We have been talking about reducing, reusing, and recycling and about preserving our ecosystems.  Our students are participating in the grocery bag project. Each child decorated a paper grocery bag from Publix with pictures and slogans that remind us all to do our part to help our Earth. These bags from our students will be used at the Publix on Bass Rd. If you shop there this week, ask for a paper bag, and maybe you will get a paper bag decorated by one of our many artistic students!  Help us with this by talking with your child about ways your family could help our earth!  For example, recycle cans or newspapers at home, or start a compost pile if you garden.   Help us to make every day EARTH DAY!
Here are a few of the bags our class decorated.

Important Info about FLAT STANLEY!!!!!!

A number of students are getting pictures, letters, emails, etc. back from Flat Stanley.  I am happy to hear that Stanley is having fun in his travels.  Collect as much information, pictures, etc. as you can!  Everyone will present to the class the results of their Stanley's visit.  When you get Stanley home, think of a creative way to display his adventures. You may do a poster, a scrapbook, a booklet, etc. Be sure to include the emails or letters documenting his vacation. Then, your child can bring it to school to share with the class.  Parents may help with ideas for this project, but I want this to be your child's work.   All projects should be turned in and presented by April 23rd. Any time your project is ready, bring it on in to share!   If you are having trouble getting Stanley back, just let me know!  I understand that this is out of your hands.  Click here for an example of the rubric used to grade this project. I hope you had fun with Flat Stanley and his adventures!   We will also display your projects in the hallway.  Enjoy working on this together!  Thanks for your involvement in this activity.  It is always one that former students remember with fondness.
