MIDTERM INFO
Dear Parents,
Believe it or not it is now midterm of the 3rd quarter in school. Without a doubt...this school year is flying by! Please note...now that we have access to Edline, we will no longer be sending midterm report cards. (We will still continue to send report cards at the end of each quarter.) Midterm reports are no longer necessary since you have daily access to your children's grades and progress. Teachers are required to upload grades to Edline every Friday for your perusal.
On that note, it has come to my attention that only 50% of the elementary families have activated their Edline accounts. If you have not already done so, PLEASE do this today. This information is vital to you as a parent to keep up with your child's progress in school. If you have lost or misplaced the personal activation code that was mailed to you or if you have questions about this process, please contact Maebelle Joyner or Karen Vinson. Either of these ladies will be glad to assist you in this process.
I appreciate your support and look forward to a successful remainder of the year. Please know I am here if I can be of assistance to you in any way!
Warm Regards,
Donna S. Mallett
Head of Lower School

Daybreak Shelter on Walnut Street in downtown Macon will have a reading area open to local homeless people for one day a week starting on Monday, February 20th.
Below are some of the supplies needed. A donation box will be located in the TSA Cafe. You may also email Sister Elizabeth Greim at daybreak.macon@gmail.com, and she will coordinate with you where you can drop off larger items.
Rugs
Book Cases
Floor Lamps
Coffee Tables
Comfortable Chairs
Magazines
Board Games
Art Supplies (sketch paper, pencil, pens, and markers)
Coffee Mugs
Toilet Paper
Paper Towels
Hand Sanitizer
Coffee, filters, stirrers, cream, sugar
Lemonade
Snack items (like chips, fresh fruits, but no pastries or cupcakes)
Napkins
Small Plates
Sister Elizabeth Greim, director of Daybreak, said the shelter's reading area will be much like a living room area, where homeless people can grab a cup of coffee, read a magazine or play games for a couple of hours during the afternoon.
This is just one part of the services that they plan to provide. They are going to be renovating the entire building on Walnut Street where they will have job-hunting, medical and mental health services for homeless people. While many of the services are not yet in place, they wanted to start helping people right away.

Flat Stanley...Don't Forget
Several people have turned this in!! If you are having trouble, let me know!!
REMINDER!!!
We read a book entitled Flat Stanley. It is a story of a boy who is flattened by a falling bulletin board during the night. Luckily, Stanley is unhurt, but his life does change due to his new shape. Stanley is interested in visiting a friend who lives in California. Stanley's family realizes that sending Flat Stanley through the United States mail would be much cheaper than purchasing an airline ticket. Throughout the story, Stanley has many great adventures as a flat person.
The students and I are hoping you can help us with a little project. We are each going to make our own Flat Stanley, and we want to send him to a friend, relative, or pen pal. Please choose someone that you feel would respond. We are hoping to receive pictures and tales of Stanley's adventures. If you will send in the name and full mailing address, we will get the letter and Stanley ready. When the envelope comes home, it will be your job to see that the letter gets mailed. We are anxious to see where all Stanley will go!
_**Please try to return the bottom part by Thursday! We will be writing our letter on Friday. Please print clearly!

Reminders for this week....
A lot is happening in the next few days so here is a reminder list:
• Tuesday, February 7, is our GrandKids field trip to the Grand Opera House. We will see a live stage version of the popular book and t.v. series, The Magic Schoolbus. The children should be in uniform and should bring money for lunch at Stevi B’s on Northside Dr. These parents are driving: Marc Boone, Laura Childs, Cristy Hiller, and Kecia Isgett. Parents should meet in our classroom at 8:45.
• The Diaper Drive service project is going well. We plan to drop the diapers off at the Dove Center after the performance at the Grand. If you have not sent your diapers in, please do so by Tuesday.
• Each child will need a new folder with pockets for our new Georgia Unit. We are starting this unit of study next week. Please be sure your child has a folder. They may be purchased in the Tattnall Spirit Store if you want to send money.
• We are doing well on our times tables! I am so proud of my students! We have covered the two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, and ten tables. Continue to drill your child at home at least 10 minutes a day. This truly helps and I can see the difference it makes in class. “Practice makes perfect.”
• Talent Show is Sunday, February 12, and Monday, February 13. Third grader, Sarah Sachy, is in the talent show on Sunday. Sarah will be playing the piano. Come out and enjoy this time and support sweet Sarah! Tickets are available from the junior class or Mrs. Cheek.
• The next Open House is Sunday, February 12, for new, prospective families. Invite your friends and let’s advertise our super school!
• We could use ring pops, tootsie pops, freezer pops, or small canned drinks like Cokes, Dr. Peppers, etc… (for pick a prize on Mondays) and Clorox wipes.
• Valentine Party is Feb. 14 at 1:45 in our classroom.
